Job Matching, Placement and Incentives

Receive a wage subsidy when hiring to defray on-the-job training expenses.

 

This Employment Ontario program is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.

Youth Job Connection (Ages 15–19)

An employer must:

  • Be licensed to operate in Ontario and provide the YJC employment in Ontario;

  • Be in compliance with the Operational Health and Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act, and with all applicable federal and provincial human rights and labour legislation, regulations and any other relevant standards;

  • Maintain appropriate Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) or private workplace safety and 3rd party general liability insurance coverage.

An employer should offer/have:

  • Suitable part/ full-time placement consistent with the participants identified employment needs/career goals;

  • Opportunities for on the job training;

  • Contribution costs associated with job training or wages;

  • Strong ties with the community or youth;

  • Strong employment growth or sustainability in the local area or industry,

  • The intention to hire the participant after placement ends.

Placement Incentives

Employers will receive a placement incentive to offset costs of training, increased supervision requirements and other expenses resulting from the placement. Training/skills enhancement support are not required for all youth. Job-related training and/or certification directly linked to the placement that has been identified by the employers.
